Program Information : The Chemical Abuse Program is designed for people who are not chemically dependent but have experienced problems with substance abuse. The program features light counseling and provides a sound introduction to the Stages of Change model. The Chemical Abuse Program can be a valuable eye opener for those who are beginning to recognize that alcohol and/or other drugs are causing a problem. Counselors address the extent of use and assist clients in breaking through denial. Through education and group counseling, clients are encouraged to make healthy, significant changes in heir lifestyle choices. The group meets once a week for 8 weeks. If continued use occurs, transfer to a higher level of care is recommended. The Intensive Outpatient Programs meet three times a week. Each group therapy session lasts three hours. The program consists of education on the disease/recovery process and intensive counseling focused on issues which have caused or supported chemical dependence. Significant others are encouraged to participate in the process and to work on relationship problems centered around the chemical abuse. Individual counseling sessions are also provided during the course of treatment. Clients are assisted in overcoming denial and in identifying relapse triggers that have blocked recovery. Huther-Doyle offers a full continuum of outpatient chemical dependency treatment to adolescents and adults.
